June Martin Taylor

June Martin Taylor, 83, of Appomattox passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Albert Forrest Taylor for 59 years.
Born on April 1, 1942, in Spout Spring, she was the daughter of the late John David Martin and Ollie Baber Martin. She was an active member of Evergreen United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, UMW president and member, Youth Group Leader, Secretary to the Administration Council, Trustee of the church for many years, and she organized and led several mission groups. Although she never had children of her own, she was “a mother” to many. The “fun mom”. She was a devoted wife, sister, and aunt. She was a wonderful local artist that shared her beautiful paintings at local art exhibits. Our homes are full of her sweet touch.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Carol B. Taylor; eleven nieces and nephews, Linda Short and husband, Phillip, Dudley Smith, Forrest Smith and his wife, Linda, Pamela Grizzard and husband, Kelton, Sharon Ferguson and husband, Tony, Dolly Sowell, Donnie Ferguson and wife, Aileen, Linda M. Dudley and husband, Bill, Debbie M. Mull, Dean Martin, and Tammy M. Stewart and husband, Randy; numerous great nieces and nephews including two special great nieces, Shawn Lee and husband, Jeff, and Shana H. Canada and husband, John; Godchildren, Wesley Baldwin, and Terry Hancock Willis and husband, Tim.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Violet M. Barnes and Mary Ferguson; two brothers, John D. Martin and Allen “Pete” Martin; and a nephew, Allen R. Martin.
A funeral service will be held 2pm, Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Evergreen United Methodist Church with Rev. Eric Hernandez and Gus Paulette officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
