Gracie Baars Kennon Mayberry
Gracie Baars Kennon Mayberry, 91, of Appomattox County, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was twice widowed. Her first husband, Curtis Woodroe Kennon, her second husband, William Clyde Mayberry.
Born on December 5, 1933, in Hixburg, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Edward Baars and Mary Pearl Camden Baars. She was a retired assembler for Armstrong Furniture. Gracie was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
She is survived by two children, Clarence Ray Kennon, and Clara Belle Adkins and husband, Calvin; two stepsons, Calvin Kennon and James Kennon; four grandchildren, Jerry Adkins and Wanda, Wendy Watson and husband, John, Craig Adkins and Ruby, and Dennis Ray Goff; five great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Huddleston; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by stepson, Ronnie Kennon; stepdaughter, Laverne K. Taylor; four sisters, Virginia Goin, Rosa Hunt, Edna B. Drewry Webber, and Ruth Gibbs; and brother, Ed Baars.
A funeral service will be held 11 am, Monday, June 2, 2025, at Robinson Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Worley officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
