Alfred Bernard McGuire

April 24, 1938 - June 10, 2025

Alfred Bernard McGuire, 87, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at his residence. He was the husband to the love of his life Shelby Clarkson McGuire for 58 years.
Born on April 24, 1938, in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Richard A. McGuire and Beulah Pardon McGuire. Alfred attended Liberty Baptist Church. He was a longtime and active member of Appomattox Moose Lodge #975. He was owner and operator of McGuire and Johnson Concrete Finishing Inc. Alfred was more than just a hard worker, he was known for being a perfectionist and a man of his word. He was someone you knew you could count on and a good friend to many.
He was the best Dad and Papa to his three children, Teresa McGuire Hancock and husband, Kent, Clark McGuire and wife, Kim all of Appomattox, and Darlene Ayers of Kansas, his five grandchildren, James Hancock and wife, Carrie, Nichole Yeatts and husband, Tim, April McGuire and husband, Dylan, Jodie McCoy and husband, Chris, and Aubrey McGuire, 13 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheri Jean McGuire; son, Bernie McGuire; two brothers, Vernard McGuire and Delaney McGuire; and his foster parents Lacy Wilkes and Alma Mae Wilkes.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
