John Howard Covington
John “Johnny” Howard Covington, 85, of Pamplin, VA, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at his home. He was the husband of Georgianna “Ann” Shorter Covington for 60 years.
Born in Pamplin, VA, on March 30, 1940, he was the son of the late Annie Rosser Covington and Robert “Bob” Walker Covington, Sr. He was a retired machinist from BWXT. He was a member of Walker’s Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Johnny enjoyed farming, hunting, and fishing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Stephanie C. Hodges and husband, Lester, and Charles “Charlie” H. Covington; sister, Estelle C. Woosley and husband, Dave; sister-in-law, Margie C. Covington; two grandchildren, Monica H. Bennett and husband, Dalton, and Derick Hodges and wife, Erin; three great-granddaughters, Kennedy, Hadley, and Colyer Bennett; and numerous nieces and nephews, including special niece, Sharon K. Hix.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, R. Walker Covington Jr.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am, Friday, June 27, 2025, in Swan Family Cemetery, 3539 Swan Rd, Pamplin, VA, 23958, officiated by Pastor Robert Wilson.
The family will receive friends at his residence.
