Curtis Wiley McCormick, Sr.
Curtis Wiley McCormick, Sr., 96, of Lynchburg passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Runk and Pratt at Leesville Rd, Lynchburg, Va. He was the devoted husband of the late Evelyn C. McCormick for 70 years.
Born in Appomattox County on May 31, 1929, he was the son of the late Lewis Saunders McCormick, Sr. and Queenie Victoria Almond McCormick. Curtis was a devoted Christian and Fraternalist. He served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Navy. Curtis worked for 17 years at the Lynchburg Foundry and 26 years with Woodmen of the World.
He is survived by two sons, C.W. “Rocky” McCormick, Jr. and wife, Rebecca of Appomattox, Va. and Gregory L. McCormick and wife, Jennifer of Lynchburg, Va.; eight grandchildren, Pat Charlie Dehart and Lisa Bower of Christiansburg, Va., Samantha Hudson and Brian of Lynchburg, Jesse Otey and Seth of Farmville, Erin Walker and Chris of Havlock, N.C., Allison Burnette of Lynchburg, Jacob McCormick and Jessica of Florida, Curtis Cole McCormick, and Evelyn McCormick; son-in-law, Randy Dehart; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Lee Dehart; and 10 brothers and sisters.
A graveside service will be held 11am, Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Liberty Cemetery with Pastor Mike Bragg officiating.
