Ava Sue Thomas Ranson

Ava Sue Thomas Ranson, 66, of Appomattox, VA., passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late John Henry Ranson Jr.
Born in Lynchburg, VA., on November 4, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Lawton Murrel Thomas Sr. and the late Alice Almond Thomas. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church. Sue worked at Farmers Bank of Appomattox as a Head Teller for many years. She loved shopping, cooking and traveling.
She is survived by her son Jon Aubrey “Jay” Ranson of Appomattox; and one sister, Eve T. Wood; nieces and nephews, Jane T. Allen and husband, Scottie, William Lawton “Will” Thomas and wife, Jodi, Jordon Turner, Savannah Wood, and Tristan Wood; close friends, Dawn Ferguson, Bobbie Adkins; and a very close cousin, Cindy Watson.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lawton Murrel “L.M.” Thomas, Jr, and twin sisters, Allison Fay and Karen Ray Thomas.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Evergreen Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Jonathan Watson, Rev. Dr. Rusty Small, Rev. Robert E. Lee, and Pastor Eric Hernandez.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at her residence.
