Charles Russell McFadden Sr.

Charles Russell McFadden Sr., 85, of Gladstone, VA., passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the loving husband of Anna Pauline Tyree McFadden for 62 years.
Born in Nelson County, VA, on February 11, 1940, he was the son of the late John James McFadden and the late Florence Woody McFadden. He was a member of Gladstone Memorial Baptist Church. Charles worked at True Value Hardware in Appomattox for 15 years and worked as a mechanic at Sears Roebuck & Co. until he retired at the age of 55. In his pastime he enjoyed hunting, talking, and he never met a stranger.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Ricky Allen McFadden Sr. and wife, Judy of Gladstone; four grandchildren, Ricky A. McFadden Jr. and wife, Felicia, Jonathan McFadden, Joshua McFadden and wife, Danielle, and Derek McFadden; three great-grandchildren, Blalyn, Akayla, and Mason; six brothers and sisters, Martha Meador of Maryland, Barbara Bryant of Madison Heights, James McFadden and Brenda of Schylur, Edward McFadden and Eleanor of Gladstone, Howard “Billy” McFadden and Hazel of Gladstone, and Daphine McFadden Davis of Amherst; one sister-in-law, Ann McFadden of Gladstone; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Charles R. "Rusty" McFadden Jr.; and one brother, Raymond “Pete” McFadden.
A funeral will be held at 11 am on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Robinson Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Jerry Childress. Burial will be held in McFadden Family Cemetery following the service.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm, Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Robinson Funeral Home.
