Charles Robert Morgan
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Charles Robert Morgan, who departed this life peacefully on October 7, 2025, at the age of 87. He was the devoted heart of his family, a pillar of strength whose quiet wisdom, unwavering support, and steadfast love built the foundation on which his family continues to stand.
Born on October 1, 1938, in Buckingham, Virginia, Charles was the son of Lewis and Virgie Morgan. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army before beginning his career as a truck driver and superintendent for Lawhorne Brothers Paving. Though dedicated to his work, his greatest joy came from being outdoors on his tractor, farming the land he loved. A skilled mechanic, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandchildren.
Charles never met a stranger and was a friend to all. His life was marked by humility, kindness, and service. He faithfully loved the Lord, serving for many years as a deacon at Liberty Chapel Baptist Church and as a Gideon for over 50 years, sharing the Word of God with countless lives.
Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Faye Thornhill Morgan. He is survived by his son, Robert Morgan and wife Joan of Appomattox, and daughter, Rhonda Sia and husband Steve of Cave Creek, Arizona; six grandchildren, Nina, husband Collins, Brandon, Alden, Morgan, Emory, Greylin; and great-grandchildren, Brylee, Nash, and Kolly. He also leaves behind his sister, Nancy Morris; brother, Dave Morgan; sister-in-law, June Thornhill; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A service to honor and celebrate Charles’s life will be held at Liberty Chapel Baptist Church on Sunday, October 12th at 3:00PM, officiated by Pastor Jim Baylor, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and following the burial in the church fellowship hall.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to his devoted sister and caregiver, Nancy Morris, as well as Arylece Cousins, Margaret Kruschwitz, and the ladies of Liberty Chapel Baptist Church who provided numerous meals.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 486, Appomattox, VA 24522.
