Donald Ray "Donnie" Hudson

Donald “Donnie” Ray Hudson, 60, of Appomattox, Virginia, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born on April 19, 1965, in San Antonio, Texas, Donnie was the beloved son of the late Lawrence Ray Hudson and Beatrice Totty Hudson. He was also preceded in death by his oldest brother, Dwight Hudson.
Donnie is survived by his loving daughter, Tia Hudson Jackson and her wife, Sydni; his cherished grandchildren, Stella Andrews and Bryce Jackson; his brother, Darl Hudson and his wife, Cindy; and as a father figure to Amanda Mahone Kent and her husband, Brendan. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
Donnie was a devoted and loving father and “PawPaw,” whose greatest joy came from spending time with his family. Over the years, he worked for R.R. Donnelley and Greif Brothers Corporation before founding his own business, Donnie Hudson Custom Interior Painting, where he took great pride in his craftsmanship and dedication to his customers. In his spare time, Donnie enjoyed woodworking and building custom pieces, a hobby that showcased his creativity and attention to detail.
Donnie lived life with heart and humor. He loved playing golf and was a devoted fan of UVA football, the Miami Dolphins, and his hometown Appomattox Raiders. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family, his dogs, and driving around in his truck. His laughter, loyalty, and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held from 4-6pm, Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Robinson Funeral Home in Appomattox, VA, and at Tia’s residence at other times.
