Mary Ann Thompson Garrett

Mary Ann Thompson Garrett, 93, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed on Wednesday, January 07, 2026, at her home. She was the loving wife of the late William Therious Garrett.
Born in Appomattox County, VA, on December 1, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Irene Chandler Thompson and Evan Button Thompson. She was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church and retired from Appomattox Garment Company. Mary Ann loved to read, quilt and do alterations for the community.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Louise Rowland and husband, Emmitt (Wally); two grandsons, Emmitt F. Rowland IV and wife, Kelly, and William Garrett Rowland and wife, Angela; three great-grandchildren, Allison M. Rowland, Skylar A. Rowland, and W. Garrett Rowland Jr.; a brother-in-law, David T. Garrett; two loving sisters-in-law, Evelyn Harrington and Page Garrett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Alta Evans, Amy Mosley, Elizabeth Thompson, and Erma Blucher; and four brothers, Frank Chandler, George Thompson, Fred Thompson, and Dan Thompson.
The family would like to thank Barbara Kay and Mac MacLaughlin for their love and care of Mary Ann’s home.
A funeral will be held at 2pm, Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Evergreen Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Chris King and Pastor Todd Estes. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
