Larry Wash McCormick, Sr.
Larry Wash “Tootie” McCormick, Sr. went on his forever hunting trip as he passed peacefully in his home while the snow fell on January 25, 2026.
Born on April 20, 1955, to the late Guy Samuel McCormick, Sr. and Francis Viar McCormick of Gladstone.
“Tootie”, an avid hunter and fisherman, was known for his “Tootie’s Secret Sauce” that went perfectly on the deer he harvested the week prior, the way he tore up a dance floor (Thank God he danced better than he scrambled eggs), and the way he was so happy and eager to spend time with the people he loved, (ESPECIALLY his grandkids when they were rubbing his feet with Gold Bond). If you knew him, you loved him, laughed with him, and likely shared a cold beer during a summer cook-out with him.
In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his wife, Margie McCormick, who he cherished and loved so much, his best friend, and brother, Guy “Buckshot” McCormick Jr, a niece, Melissa “Lissa” Ellis, and his beloved little dog, Root.
Tootie leaves behind so many loved ones. His daughter and caregiver, that he called “his angel”, Kim Graybill, and devoted son-in-law that lovingly built a bond with him, Joe Graybill, of Amherst; son Larry “Pic” McCormick and wife Dani of Gladstone; grandchildren, Sierra “Boot” McCormick (Landon) of Amherst, Schuyler “Pooley” Shiflett (JJ) of Nelson, Jessie “Scooter” Richard (Taylor) of Lovingston, Ocean Graybill of Florida, Cody “Rut” McCormick (Allie) of Appomattox, and Dru “Drubie” McCormick of Amherst; and six great-grandchildren, Baylee, Lincoln, Grace, Scarlett, Anthony, and Julian. He also leaves behind his sisters, Patricia McCormick, Rebecca Jones (Riley) and Mamie Henson (Lee); and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved like his own children. Tootie leaves behind a convoy of hunting buddies that he shared so many memories with, though his favorites were his brother, Buckshot, his nieces, Steph and Lissa, and his drinking buddy, “Cooter”.
Due to the suddenness of his passing, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Tootie may consider a donation to help with final arrangements.
A celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date, to be announced, but condolences can be made at his daughter’s address, 693 Patrick Henry Hwy Amherst Va, 24521.
And for one final time, 10-4, Sky Chief.
