Jesse "Buck" Howard Johnson Jr.

Jesse Howard “Buck” Johnson, Jr., 82, of Appomattox passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at his residence. He was the husband of Shirley Ann Wilson Johnson.
Born on July 10, 1943, in Appomattox, he was the son of the late Jesse Howard Johnson, Sr. and Eliza May Richardson Johnson. Buck was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting. He was a member of Greenway Hunt Club from the beginning. He was a horseshoe throwing B Class state champion four years in a row and an A Class NHPA multi tournament winner. Buck Loved spending time with his family and always made sure he took care of his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Jesse H. Johnson III and Kimberly McCormick, Jacqueline Michelle Johnson and Donavan St John, and Angela Johnson; three grandchildren, Timothy Mann, Bridget Mayberry and spouse, Joel Cluck, and Damian Mayberry and Shae Hubbard; two great-grandchildren, Lincoln James Cluck and Malakai Mayberry; and two siblings, David Ray Johnson and Margie Mayberry.
He was preceded in death by his brother, James Richard Johnson.
A funeral service will be held 2pm, Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Robinson Funeral Home with Richard Keith McCormick officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30pm, Friday, February 6 at Robinson Funeral Home.
