David Lloyd Doss

David Lloyd Doss, 85, of Appomattox, VA, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Babcock Manor with his children by his side.
Born in Appomattox, VA, on February 29, 1940, he was the son of the late Margaret Virginia Whitehead Doss and James Lloyd Doss. David was a graduate of Appomattox High School class of 1959. He was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church and retired from Lynchburg Foundry after 37 years of service. David was an avid outdoorsman, loved to hunt, fish, and garden, and enjoyed sharing his harvest with friends, family, and neighbors. He also enjoyed westerns, photography, bluegrass, and cooking. David had a great sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh with everyone.
He is survived by three children, Brigadier General David Anthony Doss and wife, Marlina, Rhonda Gail Bunch and husband, Smithy, and Karen Dudley and husband, Duke; five grandchildren, Lauren Chapman and husband, Matthew, Jessica, Rachel, Chace, and Austin; four siblings, Garland Doss, Kenneth Doss and wife, Sandy, Wayne Doss and wife, Jan, and Josephine Cox and husband, Willie; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Doss and Nancy Doss; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Larry Doss, Randolph Doss, and Arthur Doss.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am, on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Robinson Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Tim Walker.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
