Richard Columbus "Buddy" Furr, II
Richard Columbus “Buddy “ Furr II, age 69 of Buchanan, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at his home. Buddy was born on September 1, 1950 in Raeford, North Carolina to the late Richard Columbus and Edna Lillian Barrett Furr. Buddy was an Executive Vice President for New River Electrical company and retired after 45 years of service. Buddy was also very proud to have served in the U.S. Navy for some time after he graduated from high school. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and was very fond of his guns as he was also a member of the NRA. In addition to his parents, Buddy is preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Furr. He is survived by his wife of 16 years Mary Harris Furr; sons and daughter-in-law, Stephen (Candice) Furr of Roanoke, Johnny Dwayne (Chiharu) Lambert of Normal, Illinois, Samuel Harris Austin and Caitlyn Porterfield of Richmond; Daughter and son-in-law: Brittany (Jason) Gordon of Roanoke; grandchildren: Maci Gordon, John Lambert, and Emi Lambert; brother and sister-in-law: Dennis (Barbara) Harris of Troutville; sisters and brothers-in-law: Rebecca (Jack) Linkous of Roanoke, Toni (Chuck) Pierce of Buchanan, and Tamara (Derrick) Reed of ____; many loving nieces and nephews; and many special friends and co-workers from New River Electrical. A celebration of Buddy’s life will be 11:00 am, Tuesday October 1 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville with Pastor Darren Potter officiating. Burial will be at Godwin Cemetery in Fincastle. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
