Edward Lewis Dooley

Edward Lewis Dooley, 88 of Thaxton, passed away Monday, February 24, 2020 at his residence. He was born on Saturday, July 4, 1931 in Bedford County, a son of the late Irvin Dooley and Clara Gibson Dooley.

He was retired from Bedford County Public School as a bus driver.

He is survived by his wife, Susie Mae Overstreet Dooley; sons, Johnny Dooley & wife, Connie, Earl Overstreet, Ed Dooley & wife, Liz, Jerry Dooley; daughters, Lena Craig, Mary Nester & friend, David, Rebecca O'Neal, Cindy Dooley; Brothers, David Dooley & wife, Donna, Manuel Dooley; sisters, Elizabeth "Cotton" Bonds & husband, Jim, Vilinda Broughman & husband, Guy, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Pastor Earl Ragland officiating. Interment will follow in Montvale Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 until 7 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
