Jerry Gene Herndon, Sr.

Jerry Gene Herndon, Sr., age 70 of Troutville, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital following a long illness.

Jerry was born June 20, 1949 in Grundy, Virginia and lived for more than 20 years in Troutville. He was the son of the late Doak and Mabel Totten Herndon.

Jerry was a truck driver and enjoyed NASCAR. He served in the United States Army.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Hutchens Herndon; daughter, Mary Tracy Herndon; his twin brother Terry Dean Herndon; and brother Craig Herndon. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Jerry Jr. and Fredrika Herndon of Roanoke; granddaughter, Brooke Herndon of Salem; brothers and sisters-in-law Tom and Marissa Herndon of Salem, Doak and Carolyn Herndon of Roanoke; sisters and brothers-in-law Kim Harlow of Salem, Helen Bates of Roanoke, Connie and Gary Poff of Troutville, Sherry and Bill Carver of Roanoke, and Kelly Tolman of Roanoke; Greg Flowers who was like a son to him; the Hutchens family, and many more special people.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at a later date at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
