Ada Jean Givens

September 30, 1942 - April 6, 2020

Ada Jean Givens, 77 of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away,
Sunday, April 5, 2020. Jean passed peacefully at home surrounded by family after a 12 year battle with Alzheimer’s and now rejoined her loved ones.

She was predeceased by her parents, Owen and Margaret Basham; Husband, James Givens; Son, Daniel Byers; grandson, Josh Byers and siblings, Hogan, Lois, Bobby, Larry, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends

She is survived by her sister, Mary Sue Murphy; children, Dean Clark (Debbie),Vicky Asberry; Tommy Byers ( Vaneassa), Jeffery Byers; grandchildren, Michelle Dunbar, Johnny Clark, Lisa Ray, Jason Ferguson, Taylor DeHaven, Mitchell DeHaven, Christina Walters, Josh Walters, Shawn Byers, Brittany King and Daniel Byers; great-grandchildren, Zachary Dunbar, Bradley Dunbar, Kelsey Dunbar, Johnathon Clark, Kegan Ray, Jacob Clark, Landon Ray, Isabella DeHaven, Layla Walters, Achilles Walters, Shylynne Thompson, Sarrina King; great great
grand-children, McKenah and Maxxton Dunbar.

Jean loved her family, her children and grand-children were the pride of her life. She loved and spoiled each one of them.
She never met a stranger, she loved people; she loved children and animals. Always sharing a laugh, a smile or a hug she was an inspiration to all who knew her and always there to brighten the lives of other.

She was a Christian and loved being in church, loved gospel music although she couldn’t carry a tune she sang those hymns and even with Alzheimer’s she could sing the words.

Jean touched our lives and will forever be in our hearts.

The family would like to thank their church family at Grace & Truth Baptist and at Harvest Baptist Church for all the love and support for Jean through the years.
