Joanne Carter Custer

Joanne Carter Custer, 85, widow of James C. Custer, died on Saturday, June 13, 2020. She was the daughter of the late Pete Carter and the late Alice Dooley Custer. She was a dedicated homemaker.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Patty Short, Carl Custer and his wife Connie, Dwayne Custer and his wife Francie, Brian Custer and his wife Jan; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and numerous other family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 from 10 to 11 A.M. at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Rd., Roanoke.The funeral service will follow immediately at 11 A.M. in the Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Custer officiating. Burial will be held in Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
