Natalie Hope Lucas

November 19, 1965 - June 25, 2020

Natalie Hope Lucas, 54 of Pearisburg, VA went to be with her heavenly father June 25th, 2020 at Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, WV. Hope was born on November 19, 1965 and was a daughter of the late Arnold (Corky) Eugene Lucas, Jr. and Betty Sue Fleeman Lucas. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Viola and Horton Fleeman and Nancy and Arnold Eugene Lucas, Sr. and a host of cousins & Friends. Hope was a rare special person who had a zest for life and a very bubbly and contagious personality which made it easy for her to make friends. She never met a stranger and loved talking to everyone. She was so blessed to have lived as independently as she did for all of these years. Where most people would have been institutionalized, she was able to live as she wished being the social butterfly that she was. She was so blessed to have the help of her family and a special group of friends that were so willing to help her with the daily necessities of life. She was such a special person to all of us and we are blessed to have had her in our lives for the short time she was here for us. She is happy now being with her Mom and Dad, her grandparents, and in the presence of our Lord. We will miss her because we are the ones left behind to grieve but take comfort in knowing we will see her again. She is survived by her companion of 23 years, John Peoples of Pearisburg, one sister, Dena Puckett and niece Lexi Puckett of Christiansburg, her aunt, Sharon Martin of Pearisburg, her special friend Mary Beth Holton of Pearisburg, Sarah Morris her pastor whom she dearly loved, special friend Gretchen Hagee, special friend and social worker James Southers or as she called him, “The Virginia Tech Man,” and many special friends and acquaintances she made along the way. A memorial service and a celebration of her life will be held Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 4 pm at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Sarah Morris officiating. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home 3 -4 pm before the service In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
