Mattie Hackworth Newman

Mattie Hackworth Newman, 91 of Lynch Station, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Autumn Care of Altavista. She was born on Tuesday, January 8, 1929 in Campbell County, a daughter of the late Davis Hackworth and Beatrice Wilson Newman. She was also preceded in death by husband, Ollie Bennett Newman.

She was retired from Klopman Mills.

She is survived by her sons, Johnnie Newman, Howard O. Newman & wife, Susie; grandson, Howard O. Newman, Jr.; her brother, Thomas Hackworth and her niece, Dusty Hackworth.

The family will receive friends beginning at 12 noon on Friday, September 25, 2020 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston and a graveside will follow at 1 PM at Independence Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
