Lottie Mae Cantrell Mullins
Lottie Mae Cantrell Mullins, age 79, passed away on September 26, 2020 at Forysth Medical Center. She was born on May 27, 1941 in Russell County, Virginia to the late George Washington Cantrell and the late Dixie Blevins Cantrell. She married her lifetime friend and love, Kent Lee Mullins in March 1956 and spent twenty seven years together before his untimely death in February 1985. she was also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth “Bobe” Mullins, three sisters, Ruby Mullins, Maggie Jordan, Ross Dorton, two brothers, Wiley Cantrell, and John Cantrell. She attended school in Cleveland, Virginia. She worked at Bassett Walker, American Furniture and retired from Bassett Superior Line. She was avid reader, enjoyed gardening and growing flowers, quilted and did needlework. She loved feeding her birds and spending time with family and friends. Lottie was a joyful spirit who love life. Most of all, she loved her family and worked tirelessly to make sure they were taken care of. Some of her hobbies were gardening, reading and telling stories. Her heart was always filled with love for others and had an uncanny way of knowing who needed it most. She was tough as nails and never kept idle hands. For many years Lottie worked at Bassett Superior Line in the finishing department. She took pride in her work and was model employee. Lottie treated everyone she met with kindness and had warmth about her that everyone was instantly drawn to.
Lottie is survived by six children, Debra M. Underwood (Harry), Bernard Mullins (Rhonda), Frankie Mullins, Andy Mullins, Mark Mullins and Tammy M. Jividen (Tim), twenty grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, three sisters, Nellie Purcell, Eva Lasley, Sadie Meade (Farrell), and a brother, Charlie Cantrell (Ruby).
The family would like to thank everyone who selflessly provided care for Lottie in her final year of life. Your kindness and support did not go unnoticed.
The family will have a floating visitation on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Molls Creek Church in Castlewood, Virginia. Interment will follow in the Mullins Family Cemetery.
