Marion "Brooke" Lyon Kolitwenzew

Marion "Brooke" Lyon Kolitwenzew, 67 of Sandy Level, passed away suddenly Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Woodhaven Nursing Home. She was born on Saturday, July 18, 1953 in Danville, VA, a daughter of the late Edwin Buchanan Lyon and Vivian Lee Lyon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Kolitwenzew and a daughter, Helena Rose Kolitwenzew.

She graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in Psychology from Vanderbilt University and attended Film School at UNC Chapel Hill. She enjoyed nature, the arts, creative expression and the simple things in life. She put her family before herself and would do anything to help anyone. May her memory be eternal.

She is survived by her children, Alexander, Ivan, Mikhail and Marina Kolitwenzew.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Maplewood Cemetery in Durham, NC.

Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
