Charles Allen "Chuck" Dodd

July 19, 1956 - November 1, 2020

Charles Allen Dodd “Chuck”, 64, of Roanoke, passed away at his residence on Sunday, November 1, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.

It was no secret to anyone that Chuck was a one-of-a-kind type of man. His southern values and love for his family shined through him every day. A hard-working man who spent countless days or weeks working out of town as a crew leader for a pesticide company, doing what he could to provide for his family. You would often find Chuck on his days off on a riverbank fishing for that next trophy trout or putting together his next greatest fish story about the one that got away. A diehard Pittsburgh Steelers and Nascar fan, it was not uncommon on a Sunday afternoon to hear him yelling at the television for bad calls or cheering his favorite players/drivers along as if he were sitting right there in the stadium. Chuck leaves behind a legacy for his family to carry on based on his values, work ethics, determination for success at anything he put his mind to, but most of all his unconditional love for his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Louella Dodd;

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of twenty-three years, Sandra Dodd; brothers, James (Diane) and Ernest (Sara) Dodd; stepdaughters, Christie Gibson (Chris) of Vinton, Jennifer Greer (Chad) of Franklin County, and Ashley Dooley also of Roanoke; grandchildren, Shayne, Ethan, Kaylei, and Hope Greer, Taylor Gibson, and Danyl Dooley; great-grandchild, Kasen Greer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, from 6 – 8:00 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem, Virginia. A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at Sherwood Memorial Park 1250 E. Main street Salem, VA 24153. Rev. Roy Kanode will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please make charitable donations in his name to Heartland Hospice 2800 Electric Rd. Roanoke, VA 2418.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Salama as well as the staff of Heartland Hospice for all the loving care and compassion they gave Chuck and his family.
