William Robert Sutphin

William “Robert” Sutphin, 86, of Bassett, died Saturday, November 7, 2020, at his home.  He was born in Patrick County on July 10, 1934 to the late Jesse Beamer Sutphin and the late Lydia Pack Sutphin.  He was also preceded in death by a sister, Martha Handy.
He was a 1952 graduate of Fieldale High School.  Robert was a very active member of the Blackberry Baptist Church where he had helped with the Red Cross Bloodmobiles and CPR Classes.  He was a former member of the Patrick Henry Fire Department.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen Poff (Danny); grandchildren, Michelle Poff, Jenifer Arthur (Jonathan), Rebecca Fitzgerald (James); five great grandchildren, Chloe, Jamison, Logan, Jason and Jaxon.
The family will receive friends Thursday, November 12, 2020 from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel where the funeral will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Chad Janey officiating.  Burial will follow in the Henry Memorial Park.
