Richard Cross Bartelt

Richard Cross Bartelt, 78, of Cawthorne Street, Appomattox, died Tuesday, November 17, 2020. He was the husband of Mary Coghlan Bartelt.

Born June 2, 1942, in Washington, DC, he was a son of the late Katherine Irene Cross and John Abbott Bartelt. Richard was a member of the Monroe Masonic Lodge #301 A.F. & A.M. and Eastern Star. He retired from Aerofin Corporation as the plant supervisor. Richard was an active Airstream camper and a member of numerous Airstream camping groups. He was also a member of the Appomattox Volunteer Rescue Squad for 25 years. Richard loved his family and left a legacy of love.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jeannice Bartelt Lesko and husband, Russell of Wilmington, NC, and Celeste Bartelt Minar and husband, Eric of Prince George; one brother, Bob Bartelt and fiancé, Barbara; four grandchildren, Cameron Lesko, Christian Lesko, Ryan Minar and Jordan Minar; two sisters-in-law, Becky Bartelt, and Ardith Bartelt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald Bartelt and Roger Bartelt; and sister-in-law, Sally Bartelt.

A private memorial service will be held.
