Lucille Manns Martin

May 1, 1932 - November 22, 2020

On November 22, 2020 at Piney Forest SNF Center in Danville, Virginia, the sweet Spirit of our dear mother, Lucille Martin, went to join the Savior in that home not built with hands, but whose maker and builder is God.
She was born in Henry County, Virginia on May 1, 1934, the fourth child out of fourteen born to the late Mr.  George Willie (Wilbuck) Manns and the late Mrs. Gaynell Manns.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Martin; son, Anthony Martin; siblings, Andrew Manns, Jimmy Manns, Joe Manns and Roger Manns.
Lucille attended Henry County Public Schools and worked for Bassett Furniture Industries.  She worked for 36 years at Bassett Table Plant.  She was a faithful member of Waterway Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, until her health started to decline.  She enjoyed singing in the choir, attending Sunday School and Conventions.
She leave to mourn and cherish her precious memory her daughter, Vicky (Kary) Taylor; her son, Arlian (Debra) Martin; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, Dorothy Hughes, Willie Hairston, Garthell Stanley and Ida Via all of Bassett and Ruth Bimbo of Mt. Vernon, New York; brothers, William (Nancy) Manns, George (Claudine) Manns of Bassett, Virginia and David (Faye) Manns of Callands, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 28, 2020 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 pm in the bassett Funeral Service Chapel where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with District Elder Antonio Hargrove, Sr. presiding.  Burial will follow in the Martin Family Cemetery on Tulane Drive.
Due to the governor’s requirements for Covid-19, a face covering is required and social distancing is to be observed.
