Coy David King, Sr.

Coy David King, 68, of 469 Fellowship Drive, Martinsville, VA passed at his home on November 29, 2020. He was born May 4, 1952 in Patrick County, VA to the late Genty and Beulah Hylton King.

Coy was noted for his high school football achievements and graduated from G. W. Carver high School in Henry County.
Upon graduation Coy married Patricia McDuffie and to this union a son Quanti (Amber) was born. He also became a 2 year National Guard member. Following his National Guard service, Coy attended North American Truck Driving School. He was a heavy equipment operator and became a 40 year truck driver and instructor.

In 1982, Coy married Valerie Joyce Brown and to this union a daughter, Natasha (Larry) Wright and a son, Coy King, (C.J) Jr. were born.
Coy has one granddaughter through Quanti 3 grandsons and a granddaughter through Natasha and one granddaughter thru (C. J. ) He also has 3 bonus grandchildren.

Coy will also be remembered for his love of the outdoors, fishing and the Raiders football team.
Additional close relatives include sisters, Ella Clark of New York; Elsie (Robert) Reynolds, of Collinsville, VA; Mozella Edmonds, of Martinsville, VA; Emma Jean (Bob) Hairston, of Martinsville, VA; Elizabeth (Ulysses "Buster"): Dodson, of Collinsville, VA; and brothers, Nehemiah King, of Martinsville, VA; Bernard (Georgia Ann) King, of Greensboro, NC; Roy (Bonnie) King, of Martinsville, VA;
He was preceded in death by hos oldest brother, Gentry King, Jr., and his sister, Maggie K. Harley.
A memorial service will be held in his honor after the holiday season.
