Dorothy Mae Allen

Dorothy Mae Allen, 88, of Roanoke, Virginia went to be with the Lord and her loved ones on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.
Dorothy was born on February 26, 1932 in Huddleston, Virginia to the late Walter Austin and Edna Clark Austin. She married Thomas Lee Allen at the young age of 18 years old, and by the age of 25, she had already given birth to all four of their children. After raising their children, she worked at Lady Bird Apparel for 15 years.

Dorothy loved the Lord, her family and her friends. She enjoyed music, cooking, gardening and quilting. She gave back to her community by singing with gospel groups at nursing homes and retirement homes throughout the Roanoke area.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Thomas Lee Allen.

Surviving are her son, Thomas E. Allen of Roanoke; daughters, Deborah Baker of Roanoke, Rebecca Comer of Roanoke, and Thelma Beyke of Richmond, 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held 1:00 pm, Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at Lotz Funeral Home Roanoke, with Pastor Sam Belisle officiating. Burial will follow at Bandy Family Cemetery.
