He was born on September 23, 1961 in Bluefield, WV and was the youngest son of the late James and June Hoosier. Other than his parents, Danny is preceded in death by his brother-in-law Jim Conner, and his beloved dog, “Andy”.

Sister, Linda Hoosier, of Abingdon, VA, Brother, Michael Hoosier and wife Ruth Ann, of Bluefield, WV, twin brother Douglas Hoosier and wife Bridget, of Bluefield, VA. Special sisters-in-law and their spouses, Leesa and William Keene and Teresa and Rick Linkous, of Pinch Creek. Family friend, Dan Wiley, of White Gate. Many nieces and nephews. Danny was a graduate of Rocky Gap High School and Tusculum College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. He was an employee of ABB in Bland for 37 years. He was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church for 39 years where he served as Sunday School teacher, Youth Leader, Sunday School Superintendent, Chairman of Administrative Board, and certified lay speaker/minister. His true calling to preach God’s Word was realized during his adventure to Uganda in 2017. He fell in love with the people, especially the children. He was the pastor of Graham’s Forge United Methodist Church for 18 months. His passion was truly fulfilled when he became a pastor/preacher/friend to the loving folks at Graham’s Forge. Although it seemed like too short a time, he loved this church deeply.

Danny was a loving husband and father. He left a lasting impression on anyone he met. In his spare time, he enjoyed helping others. He loved farming, remodeling work, singing, sports, especially Virginia Tech football, NASCAR, and talking to any young person he could get to stand still. Danny was a beekeeper, and also an avid runner, completing several 5K’s and the Hokie Half Marathon twice. His love for Jesus beamed in his everyday life. He never lost his faith, even when the odds were seemingly stacked against him. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Wythe Hospice of SWVA. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to Wythe Hospice of SWVA, Bland Ministry Center and Dental Clinic, or Graham’s Forge UMC.

A private graveside service will be held at the Ramsey Family Cemetery in Bland. A celebration of Danny’s wonderful life will be held at Graham’s Forge United Methodist Church in Max Meadows at a later date.
