Bessie D. Turner

Bessie D. Turner, 81, of Bassett, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020 in the Kroontje Healthcare center in Blacksburg. She was born in Critz on March 18, 1939 to the late Jessie James Dillon and the late Ocie Ann Gilley Dillon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry Lee Turner; brothers, Hardin Dillon, James Dillon, Frank Dillon and Bill Dillon; sisters, Mary Joyce, Barbara Dillon, Catherine Corns, Lee Plaster and Frances Richardson.

Bessie was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where she worked in the kitchen. She retired from Bassett Walker after many years of service.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda & David Linkous of Christiansburg; son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Lorie Turner of Stuart; grandchildren, Elena Linkous and Brandon Turner (Fiancé, Samantha Seay) ; sisters, Shirley Roark and Evelyn Rakes (Husband, Leo); numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends may stop by the funeral home to sign the register book anytime Tuesday. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the Turner Family Cemetery on Stones Dairy Road in Bassett with Pastor Rick Anderson officiating.

Due to the governor’s requirements for Covid-19, a face covering is required and social distancing is to be observed.
