Kathern M. Athey

Kathern M. Athey, 75, of Martinsville, died Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia. She was born in Beckley, West Virginia on September 21, 1945 to the late Woodrow Bailey and the late Anna Lee Brown Bailey. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Audrey Hawkins; grandson, Brandon Athey; brothers, Ronald Bailey and Carlos Bailey; sister, Ruth Ann Jackson.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Orville H. Athey, Jr.; two sons, Kirk Athey and James Athey; grandchildren, Anthony, Courtney, Eric, Brooke and Morgan; great grandchildren, Kendal, Cameron, Caden, Isaac, Dawson and Aubrey; brothers, Woodrow Bailey, Charles Bailey and Russell Bailey; sister, Sandra Harvey.

Friends may stop by the funeral home Saturday, January 9th between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM to view and sign the book for Kathern. A funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bassett Funeral Service to help with the funeral costs.
