Keith Duane Austin

KEITH DUANE AUSTIN, 79, of Bastian, VA, passed away Friday, January 1, 2021 at his home. He was born December 25, 1941 at Franklin County, Virginia, the son of the late Daniel Rupert & Evelyn Flora Austin.

Keith was an owner operator long-haul tractor trailer driver for many years. He enjoyed gardening. He was a “social butterfly” and loved his family and friends dearly.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson, Billy Kennedy and a brother-in-law, Orville Bower.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 23 years, Mearlie “Kay” Austin; his daughter, Kimberly Sue Boyd; his grandchildren, Zachary Austin and Cody Boyd; 3 great-granddaughters; his sisters & brothers-in-law, Phyllis & Donald Brubaker, Carol & Robert Montgomery and Marilyn & Jim Updike; a special nephew, Wayne Bower; two close friends, Jay Fred Hall and Jack Lundy; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 12:00 P.M. at Bastian Union Church with Pastor Paul Looney officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 A.M. until service time, 12:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Strictly following the current safety restrictions and mandates, masks are required during all services.
