A man of joy, it was a pleasure to hear his humorous serious Army stories and a joy to hear him talk about local, national and world history. He was a lifetime member of Fort Trial Baptist Church. He was Chairman of the Board at HJDB Event Center. He was a member of Stanleytown Ruritan Club. He was a coach for the Henry County Little League Baseball and Parks and Rec Basketball. He was an Antiques Auctioneer. He was a phenomenal dancer with the Fairystone Cloggers.
The family is very thankful for his “ROOK” buddies who showed tremendous care for him. The Event Center holds a special place in his heart as this is where he spent his final years enjoying Rook, friendships, and delicious food as well as his high schools years being the star athlete. He would help others even strangers who needed a few dollars.

Byrd and husband, Jerry, two grandsons; Camden Luke Byrd, William Tyler Byrd, one niece, Lucinda “Cindy” Haynes Miller, two nephews; Leon Ericson “Eric” Haynes , Justin Mark Haynes, two great-nieces.
