June Carolyn Morris Chambers

June 10, 1940 - January 5, 2021

June Carolyn Morris Chambers passed away on Tuesday, January 5th due to Covid-19. Carolyn was married for sixty-two years to John William “Jack” Chambers, Sr. until his death in 2019. She is survived by her sister, Becky Morris Shorter (Billy) of Appomattox; her son, Johnny Chambers (Anne) of Germantown, Tenn.; two daughters, Tammie Hall (Bruce) of Keysville and Sharon Tucker (Bo) of Drakes Branch; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Carolyn was born on June 10, 1940 in Madisonville, Va. to the late Alonzo Hansford “Dock” Morris and Kathryn Carwile Morris. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Wayne and Hansford Morris.
Carolyn had a strong faith in the Lord and was a longtime member of Providence Baptist Church in Red House. She attended Randolph-Henry High School through 1956 where she played forward on the girls basketball team and was known for her great outside shooting. She assisted Jack over the years operating several general stores in Charlotte County. Later, she worked in the school system as a substitute teacher and bus driver. She especially enjoyed driving the Randolph-Henry athletic teams to games and matches. A member of Hat Creek Golf Club, she was an avid golfer and enjoyed participating in tournaments around the area. Her love for sports included attending most of her children and grandchildren’s games over the years.
Carolyn suffered for many years with dementia and the family thanks Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center for how they lovingly cared for her.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, a graveside service will be held at Providence Baptist Church in Red House for immediate family only.
