Yvonne Donovant Thornton

Yvonne Donovant Thornton, 67, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021, at her home. She was born April 12, 1953, in Martinsville, Virginia to the late William Donovant, Sr., and Lillie Mae Brim Donovant. She was a member of Martinsville Temple #23 Pythian Sisters and she loved to bowl. She attended Hillcrest Baptist Church and Jones Chapel Church of the Brethren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Baker.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Thornton; a daughter, Nina Thornton; son, David Thornton; sisters, Ann Goad, Elizabeth Jamison, Jean Hall, Ruth Kendrick, and Darlene Handy; brothers Bobby Donovant, William Donovant, Jr., Timmy Donovant, Ronnie Donovant, and Ray Donovant; grandchildren, Shawn Michael Thornton, Brandon Christopher Thornton, and Alexander Hunter Scott.

The funeral will be Friday, January 15, 2021, at 2:00 P. M. at Jones Chapel Church of the Brethren with Rev. Tom Auker officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Wright Funeral Service Chapel from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Burial will be at Roselawn Burial Park.
