David Mitchell Seay

August 30, 1947 - January 16, 2021

David Mitchell Seay, 73, of Collinsville, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at his home. He was born on August 30, 1947 in Martinsville to the late Talmadge Mitchell Seay and the late Mattie Frances Hodges Seay.

He was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church. David honorably served his country in the U. S. Army during Vietnam and worked for the Henry County Sheriff’s Office for many years.

David is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Teresa Draper Seay; daughters, Sara Downs (Edward) of Stafford and Katie Martin (Thomas) of Oak Level; grandchildren, Madison Downs, Jackson Downs, Abigail Downs, Cooper Seay, Gwen Martin and Macy Martin; brother, Michael Seay (Margaret) of Collinsville; sister, Treva Shivley (Wayne) of Collinsville; Army friends, W. C. Fowlkes and Major Viney; several nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel, where the funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM Terry Martin Officiating. Burial will follow in Henry Memorial Park in Bassett.

Due to the governor’s requirements for Covid-19, a face covering is required and social distancing is to be observed.

The family wishes to send a special Thank You to the Salem VA Medical Staff and to Mountain Valley Hospice for all of the care and love the showed during the difficult time.
