Betty Saunders Ashwell, age 78, of Huddleston, Va., passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021. She was born on December 18, 1942 in Moneta, Va., a daughter of the late Clinton T. Saunders and Angie Martin Saunders. She lived most of her life in Huddleston, Va. Betty was a member of Palestine Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her loving husband of 56 years, Boyce E. Ashwell Sr., and her two children, Bonnie Ashwell of Huddleston, Virginia, and B.E. (Lisa) of Rocky Mount, Virginia and their son Evan, and daughter, Brynn; and sister, Patsy Robertson of Moneta, Virginia.

A graveside service will be held at Palestine Baptist Church Cemetery (Fancy Grove Rd., Huddleston) at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 18, 2021 with pastor Jackie Carver officiating. Arrangements by Updike Funeral Home, Huddleston.
