Harold Dennis Coffman, Sr.

November 13, 1933 - January 17, 2021

Harold Dennis Coffman Sr., 87, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 17, 2021.

There are no words to truly describe the man that Harold was, he was a man that was full of determination, and would not give up until the task was completed. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he cared for and loved his family unconditionally, teaching them the value of hard work, honesty, integrity, but also the importance of faith in the Lord. Harold spent over fifty years building homes around the area and making sure they were completed to perfection each step of the way. If he did not like how something was coming together or you did not let him inspect it prior to moving forward chances are you would find yourself dismantling the project and starting again until it was completed according to his standards. When he was not working chances are you would find him on a riverbank, tracking down that next monster buck, or studying his bible. Harold leaves behind a legacy for his family to carry on, however it is no secret he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Pernie Coffman; his loving wife of 50 years, Helen “Janie” Coffman; brothers, Bill and Marshall Coffman; sister, Doris Creasy.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Robert “Neal” Coffman (Tracy), and Harold Coffman Jr. (Linda); stepson, Jonathan Guthcrie Sr.; sister, Carol Basham; granddaughters, Morgan Sawicki (Allan), and Sierah Faries; grandson, Jacob Coffman; step grandchildren, Sara Guthrie, Jon Guthrie, and Brian Heldenbrand; and last but not least his loving great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Bloodgood.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Salem. Harold will be laid to rest at Sherwood Memorial Park immediately following the service. Rev. Ben Mewald will be officiating.
