Milton Richard Martin Sr.

Milton Richard Martin, Sr., 92 of Lynchburg, died Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at his residence. He was the loving husband of Shirley Johnson Martin for 69 years.

Born in Appomattox County, on December 30, 1928, he was a son of the late Lorene Elizabeth Reynolds Martin and Fitzhugh Martin. He was US Army veteran serving in World War II and owner and operator of Martin’s Garage. Milton was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Chestnut Mountain Hunt Club, and a charter member and past Chief of Concord Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Milton Richard Martin, Jr. and his wife, Cindy; a daughter, Katherine “Kitty” M. Spencer and husband, Johnny all of Lynchburg; a grandson, Brian Shreve; a great-grandchild, Nicholas Shreve; sister-in-law, Phyllis Martin of Concord; and nieces, Deb Martin and Sheryl Hash.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Christopher “Chris” Martin and a brother, Carrington Hugh Martin.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Concord Cemetery officiated by Rev. Chad Harris.
