Richard Eugene Willis
RICHARD EUGENE WILLIS, 58, of Rocky Gap, VA, passed away Friday, January 22, 2021. He was born February 17, 1962 in Bluefield, WV, the son of Raymond Lee Willis & Nancy Louise Lawson.
He was an avid coon hunter who loved the mountains and Plott hounds. He was a people person who never met a stranger. He was always smiling and was a good all-around guy. He loved his farm and his goats, chickens and turkeys. He loved trucks. He enjoyed family get-togethers and loved his family. He will be greatly missed by those that loved him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Louise Lawson, his paternal grandparents, Richard & Elsie Fay Lawson and Jeff & Wilma Willis, an uncle, Tommy Lawson, Spartan, SC, three aunts, Teresa Lambert and Sheila McQuard, both of Charlotte, NC, and Gale Lambert, Detroit, MI and a nephew, Matthew Lee Shrader.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons & daughter-in-law, Richard & Christine Willis and Tommy Lee Willis; his daughter, Leeandra Milam and friend, Corey Hatcher; his grandchildren, Andrea Wright, Haley Willis, Emma Willis, Gracie Willis, Brayden Willis, Kaylie Willis, Autumn Milam and Hunter Milam; his father & step-mother, Raymond & Ruth Willis; his brothers & sisters-in-law, Kevin & Ila Willis, “Dino” & Melissa Willis, all of Rocky Gap, VA; his sisters & brother-in-law, Sherry & Gary Osborne, Rocky Gap, VA and Lisa Willis, Bluefield, WV; his uncles, Richard Lawson and Roger & Teresa Lawson, all of Rocky Gap, VA, his aunts, Shelby & Donnie McGuire, and Sandy Willis, all of Charlotte, NC and Phyllis & Glen Ruble, Bluefield, WV; special friend, Nicole Austin; and several special nieces, nephews and special friends.
Strictly following the current restrictions and mandates, the funeral home asks that everyone wears a mask and follows occupancy restrictions. A public visitation will be held Monday, January 25, 2021 at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. A private family service is planned and he will be laid to rest privately at the Shrader Cemetery.
