Hoke Andrew "Andy" Rice

Hoke Andrew “Andy” Rice, 61, of Crane Creek Road, Pamplin, died Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born in Richmond, Va., on June 3, 1959, a son of Mary Anthony Rice Hamlett of Appomattox and the late Andrew Lewis Rice. He was a heavy equipment operator for Kyanite Mining and a member of Bible Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Hoke Smith “Smitty” Rice of Pamplin; three grandchildren, Dylan Thomas Geesaman, Jayden Andrew Rice, and Lyric Renae Rice; and his brothers and sisters, Brenda R. Bates and Thomas of Appomattox, Charles E. Rice and Stella of Farmville, Diane H. Brinkley of Pamplin, E. “Danny” Hamlett and Linda, Pam H. McCauley and Mike all of Richmond; his fishing partner, Wayne Price; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his stepfather, Edward D. Hamlett, Sr.

A graveside funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at Beale Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery by Rev. Dr. Rusty Small.
