Claudine Olevia Willis Reece

October 28, 1922 - February 2, 2021

Mrs. Claudine Olevia Willis Reese, daughter of the late Edward and Lelia Willis was born October 28, 1922 in Salem, Virginia. She was a graduate of Andrew Lewis High School. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of the West Main Street Church of Christ in Salem. She worked at various times for Skyline Cleaners and Valleydale Meatpackers. She also worked as Financial Secretary for the Salem Church of Christ for a number of years gaining computer skills that were not commonly used at the time.

She was united in marriage to Charles DeWitt Reese in April of 1940 and celebrated 62 years of marriage. Claudine is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Alma Jean Reese of Greeneville, TN; daughters and sons-in-law: Judy and Nelson Hancock of Vinton; Bonnie and Victor Ardito of Palm City. FL; Peggy and Richie Alba of Salem; and Linda and John McIntosh of Roanoke. She is survived by a sister, Lorraine Thornhill of Salem and sisters-in-law: Marcheta Franklin of Blue Ridge and Charlotte Reese of Salem. The joy of her life was 10 grandchildren, and 11 Great Grandchildren. Claudine was preceded in death by a brother Robert Minor Willis and sisters: Mary MacNeil, Alma Riley, Wilma Stiff and Winnie Friend.

Claudine's greatest strength was her love for family and her desire to help and serve other people. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She quietly departed this life February 2nd at The Oaks Assisted Living of Richfield in Salem. The family will forever be grateful for the wonderful loving care she received while living there.

Her beautiful life will be celebrated on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Lotz Funeral Home (Salem Chapel) at noon with her son Charles Reese, Minister officiating. There will be no formal visitation. It is requested that those attending practice safe Covid 19 guidelines. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The service will be streamed live at the Lotz (Salem Chapel) website, www.lotzfuneralhomesalem.com.
