Gertrude B. "Trudy" Conlan

May 22, 1928 - April 1, 2021

Gertrude “Trudy” Conlan of Salem, Virginia went home to the House of the Lord on Thursday, April 1, 2021. Trudy was born in Glen Head, New York on May 22, 1928 to Felix (Philip) Chebuske and Rose Groblewski. She had two siblings that predeceased her, Clara Yavoski (Locust Valley) and Raymond Chebuske (Glen Cove)

Trudy was 92 and is survived by two sons, Christopher and his wife Susan, Kevin and his wife Karen, and two daughters, Karen and her husband Thomas O’Meara and Janet and her husband Jose Castro. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren and 1 more on the way

Trudy was a great mom, she was also a loving wife to the late James Francis Conlan, III whom she was married to for 68 years prior to his death in 2018. Trudy worked for many years as a secretary for Grumman Aerospace of Bethpage. Trudy was also a parishioner at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Roanoke where she sung in the ladies’ choir and was a eucharistic minister. After moving to Salem, she then attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish.

Trudy was a resident of Salem Terrace at Harrogate for the last 2 years of her life and the family wants to send a special thank you to all the caregivers that helped our mom live a happy and dignified life while receiving the best care possible. We would also like to send special thanks for the love and kindness to our mothers’ special friends at Good Samaritan Hospice, who brought peace to our hearts and happiness to moms’ soul. God bless all.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM, Friday, April 9, 2021 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Salem. The Rev. Ken Shuping will officiate. Entombment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Thursday, April 8, 2021 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem.
