Roger Lee Flinchum, Sr.

May 21, 1943 - April 18, 2021

Roger Lee Flinchum, Sr., 77, of Elliston, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

He was born on May 21, 1943, in Snowville, Va., to the late Tiny Simpkins Flinchum.
Roger worked as a machinist for several years with Eaton Electrical, in Roanoke, prior to their closing. He then became employed with ITT Night Vision; now Elbit Systems of America, in Roanoke, where he would stay for several years before retiring. He enjoyed watching the New York Yankees play ball, when not at work, and you may have even found him playing a little bluegrass at times, as he loved music. Above it all, Roger will be remembered as a loving and truly supportive husband. He always made sure Judy was cared for and knew she was loved.

In addition to his mother, Roger was preceded in death by his brother, Norbie Flinchum.

Family remaining to cherish his memory includes his wife of 30 years, Judy Flinchum, of Elliston; son, Roger Lee Flinchum, Jr., of Botetourt County, Va.; daughter, Charlotte Lee Hawley, of Roanoke; 4 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Roger’s life will be conducted on Thursday, April 22, 2021, in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, with Chaplain Ben Mewald officiating.
