Daniel Eugene Menge

April 14, 1944 - April 22, 2021

Daniel Eugene Menge, 77, of Spout Spring, died Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Lynchburg General Hospital after struggling for years with Pulmonary Fibrosis and heart disease, remaining positive until the end. He was the loving husband of Joyce Midkiff Menge for 52 years.

Born in Enid, Oklahoma, on April 14, 1944, he was a son of the late Dorothy Swanger and George Elmer Menge. He was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church where he loved singing in the choir. He was a retired purchasing agent for BWXT and a US Army Veteran serving in Vietnam. Dan was a graduate of the University of Colorado in Boulder. He loved the Colorado mountains and he and Joyce had traveled to all the states in the US, as well as many European countries. Dan volunteered with Gleaning For The World and the Appomattox National Park. He was a kind and outgoing person who could talk with anyone.
Dan was a wonderful husband, brother, uncle, and friend. In addition to his wife, Joyce he is survived by a brother, David Menge and wife, Debbie of Lawton, Okla.; two sisters, Beth Stockton and husband, Owen and Shallini Sheeran and husband, Tom.; a sister-in-law, Debbie Menge all of Grand Junction, Colo.; numerous nieces and nephews; and special longtime friends, Larry and Neoma Howell, Kay Hamilton and the late Lewis Hamilton, and Tony and Joyce Weiss.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Menge.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Friday, April 30, 2021, at Thomas Road Baptist Church Pate Chapel officiated by Pastor Jonathan Falwell. The service may also be viewed going to https://watch.trbc.org/media/t/1_sn9ov7bv

In lieu flowers, the family requests donations be made to T.T. I., 1 Mountain View Road, Lynchburg, VA 24505; for the program of planting churches in other countries at Thomas Road Baptist Church.
