Samuel Thomas Falgiano
On Saturday, October 15th, CPT Samuel Thomas Falgiano, loving brother and father of three, passed away at age 75. Born to beloved parents, Samuel Vincent Falgiano and Victoria Owczarzak Falgiano. Tom, as he was known, was survived by three son’s; Michael, Patrick, and Nicholas Falgiano; sister, Patricia Falgiano Webb; and brother-in-law, Ned Webb. He graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School, Petersburg VA, in 1965 and the University of Richmond in 1969, where he completed ROTC and was a member of the SAE fraternity. After graduating, Tom served honorably as an Officer in the U.S. Army. He then went on to have a long and commendable career at S.C. Johnson & Son, a company he loved, working in sales over the Mid- Atlantic Region. In retirement, he worked part time, driving for Radar in Roanoke, VA.
Tom was a devout Catholic, a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Salem, VA. He was a Minister of Holy Communion, assisting in delivering Holy Communion to the homebound. He also participated in Meals on Wheels, a cause he loved and thought the world of. Tom, lived a life of service, to God, his family, his community, and country.
A devoted father, son, brother, and friend, most of all he enjoyed eating, laughing, and spending time with those he loved. His passions were enjoying live music, baseball, running, flying ultralights, skiing, traveling, and being in the mountains. His Family and friends meant everything to him, he never missed a game, an event, birthday etc., you always knew, no matter what the circumstances, you could count on him to be there for you, unconditionally.
He was a man of Honor. A couple quotes he loved and tried to live by: “There is nothing on this earth more to be prized than true friendship,” St. Thomas Aquinas; and “Pray, Hope, and Don’t Worry”-St. Pio of Pietrelcino.
The Wake will be held at Lotz funeral homes in Salem, Tuesday, Nov. 1st, Visitation starting at 6:00p.m and the Vigil Service 7:30-8:00pm The Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Salem, Nov. 2nd at 11:00am. Followed by a lunch at Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
The Burial will be at the Southwest Virginia Veterans National Cemetery in Dublin, Va, Nov. 2nd at 2:30pm.
