William "Willie" Wellington Hobbs

William (Willie) Wellington Hobbs, 79 of Pearisburg, VA passed away on Friday, April 24, 2021 at his home. Willie was born on September 1, 1941 in Pearisburg and was a son of the late Willie Wellington Hobbs and Mary Ellen Stump Hobbs. Willie was a member of the United Methodist Church at Bluff City and a 1960 graduate of the Giles High School Red Devils. Willie was a college graduate and served in the Army. He worked at the Celanese Corp. in Narrows, was a long-time employee of White Horse Antiques for 20 years and worked at the Holiday Lodge in Pearisburg for 15 years from which he retired and loved spending time with his dog, which he named “Dog”. He is survived by loving cousins, Barbara Sarver (Terry) of Pearisburg, Judy Stables (Cecil) of Narrows Rhonda Tomlin of Lynchburg, Kathy Stafford of Pearisburg and family and Friends. A Memorial service will be conducted Monday, May 3, 2021 at the Givens Funeral Chapel on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 2:00pm with the Rev. Dr. Fred L. Austin officiating with burial following in the Fairview Cemetery in Narrows. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg 1 hour before the service from 1 – 2pm.
