William "Bill" Neal Cook

August 19, 1950 - May 13, 2021

William “Bill” Neal Cook, 70, passed away at Roanoke Memorial Hospital on Thursday, May 13, 2021. He is survived by his wife, Annie, daughter Kristen, son-in-law Clay, grandsons Miller and Mason, brother Steven, and sister Peggy.

Born and raised in Georgia, Bill was a proud graduate of the University of Georgia and a life-long Georgia Bulldogs football fan. In addition to his Biology degree from UGA, Bill earned several other degrees including a master’s in business administration and in psychology. Before his retirement in August of 2020, Bill had a lengthy and accomplished career with varied roles, including founder and owner of a corporate wellness company, a mental health therapist, and most recently, the Director of Operations at Southern Mental Health Institute in Danville, VA.

Bill’s passion for helping others achieve personal growth and empowerment led to his involvement in the Mankind Project organization, in which he proudly served as a facilitator and leader for many years. In addition to his dedication to helping and mentoring others, Bill had a deep love of nature and enjoyed many outdoor pursuits during his life, including mountain climbing, hiking, kayaking, camping, and fishing.

His kindness, wisdom, intelligence, and sense of humor will be forever missed by those who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 1:00pm at Lotz Funeral Home Salem, 1330 East Main St., Salem VA. Visitation with family will take place immediately preceding the service at 12:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to make donations in Bill’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
