Brenda Jean Amos Arrington

Brenda Jean Amos Arrington, 74 of Bedford passed away peacefully on Friday, May 28, 2021. She was born Sunday, September 29, 1946 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late James Alfred Amos and Fanny Estelle Agee Amos Bowyer. She was also preceded in death by her son, Stacy W. Arrington, her grandson, Christopher B. Bowyer, her sisters, Iris A. Witt, Elsie A. Johnson and a half-brother, Ricky L. Bowyer.

She was retired from Rubatex Corporation in Bedford. She cleaned and helped others in her years after retirement. She was a loving, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and a friend to all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Wanda A. Bowyer & husband, Blake, Helen Denise Shiflett & husband, William; grandson, Wayne Walker & wife, Kayla, Joshua Bowyer & wife, Erynn; great grandson, Mason Bowyer (her shining star), her beloved pets, Kitten and Daisy; two brothers, James A. Amos (Nancy), Ivan Amos (Camie); her sisters, Betty Goff (Charlie), Carolyn Overstreet (Jackie), Tammy Schriffer-Lowe (Carl) and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, P. O. Box 926, Bedford, VA 24523 to help offset funeral expenses.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Pastor Phillip Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in the Suck Spring Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
