William Carlton Duncan, Sr.
William C. Duncan, 68, of Roanoke, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at his residence, with his family by his side. He was born March 23, 1953, in Roanoke, Virginia, son of the late Oscar and Violet Yopp Duncan. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Duncan.
William was a hard-working man who was never afraid of getting his hands dirty to accomplish a good day’s work. He was an honest man with integrity and true grit; one always knew where they stood with William for if there was any doubt, he would tell them. William greatly enjoyed taking the scenic route on his Harley, especially the many trips and “rides” that he had the opportunity to take. Above all, William dearly loved his children and their families – they were his joy!
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 30 years, Mary Ann Duncan, of Roanoke; children, John Campbell and wife, Angel, of Covington; David Campbell, of Roanoke; Debbie Hall and husband, Wesley, of Thaxton; William C. Duncan, Jr., and girlfriend, Tonya Dysart, of Strasburg, VA, and Marie Moreno and husband, Jacob, of Roanoke; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; adopted “Dad”, Leon Brown; as well as, his special K-9 companion, “Harley”.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 3, 2021, 1-2 PM, in the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son. A service will follow at 2 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Myron Atkinson officiating.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice for the compassionate care that their family received.
